Location

Open the bonnet and look at the left side of the engine bay, directly next to the battery. The black plastic cover unclips at the front edge and lifts off; the fuse layout is printed on the underside of the lid.

The large maxi fuses sit in the top row and feed high-current consumers such as the radiator fan, ABS pump and electromechanical steering. Relay positions and some fuse ratings vary between petrol, diesel and e-Golf/GTE versions, so always check the diagram on the lid. Switch off the ignition before pulling any fuse. Fuse assignment varies by equipment level and production year. Always confirm with the label on the fuse box cover or the owner's manual.
