Known weak points
- Intake manifold swirl-flap actuator failure (P2015) on common-rail engines: hesitation, limp mode and glow-plug light
- EGR valve and cooler soot build-up plus DPF clogging on cars driven mostly in town
- Injector faults and leaking injector seals on CR engines, with rough idle, chuffing noise and diesel smell in the engine bay
- Oil pump hex drive wear on the early pumpe-duse BMP engines, which can starve the engine of oil pressure
- Belt-driven water pump with plastic impeller seeping or disintegrating, usually replaced with the timing belt
- DQ250 DSG mechatronic and clutch pack wear on automatics, felt as jerky low-speed shifts and a flashing gear display
